A Message from our executive team

This month we highlight our VP of Business Development Patrick McGlynn. Here is what he has to say

Written from the heart.

As the Vice President of Business development I look forward to serving our existing clients and the new ones that entrust us with their needs. At the time I was asked to take on this role, I was ready to take a year off and travel, ride horses and enjoy the summer of New England. Steven D Ruthy said to me you will get bored, so take a vacation and come help transform the world of events. (Events encompassing – trade shows, corporate events and their marketing needs) I am always up for a challenge.

I have been in the event industry for 20 years serving in many different roles as my career grew.  (Starting out as an intern and still crushing it as one)  During brainstorming sessions, I listed out frustrations along the way, as so did many other of the talented network of people we have amassed. We wanted to build a network or as I say family of people, to help serve the event and marketing community.

We created the concept and started executing this idea of empathy and compassion (I am now adding integrity), we thought that we could bring a new light to this stressful world. Now just wait for the first lead to come in and the phone rang! Excited, we thought we got the first big lead. It was a friend’s daughter who needed help planning her boss’s event and she didn’t know where to start. It was a meeting for two. I thought what did I get myself into. I planned events for 50,000 people.  I took on the small project and we grew from there as the phone kept ringing. You never know how helping one can affect future business down the road.

I always say when selecting a new vendor it is like dating. During the RFP process it is like speed dating, once selected you date during the planning process as you don’t fully know each other and at the end of a successful event you are giving each other hugs ready to plan the next one. (One saying that came up along building the company was “Put a little love in your hug”. Here at SDR8Events we don’t only put a little love in our hugs, but in our work and client relations.

I look forward to working with you in the future! Please never hesitate to reach out to my personal line 508-971-2424 or email patrick@sdr8events.com. I always have 8 minutes in my schedule to take your call.

Sincerely,

Patrick T McGlynn

VP Business Development
